Christian is a chess coach in various middle schools in Livermore. He is also
a math tutor at Las Positas College. He loves solving math problems,
playing chess and teaching kids. Although his major is Industrial
Engineering, he loves solving math problems, playing chess, and teaching
young kids. Christian likes to share his passion and enthusiasm in learning
with all his students.
Amy Cheng, completed her B.A. Degree in Tankang University, Taiwan and
later received a Masters degree in Public Administration from California
State University, Hayward. Before coming to the U.S.A. she worked for the
American Language Institute, designing the curriculum and contributing to
arrange teachers’ class hours. Her hobbies include jogging and walking. Her
responsibilities at Best Friends are coordinating various enrichment
classes. She is in charge of supervising all the activities at the center. She
is a generous person who loves children by not only providing for them
academic learning, but also pleasure in playing. Thereby making all children
her best friend.
Webb Schoefer completed a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration -
Management Information Systems, and minored in Computer Science from
California State University Hayward (now Cal State East Bay). After
working for more than a decade in the IT industry, Webb obtained a
Masters degree in Computer Science from Chico State University . His
hobbies are golfing, camping and personal computers. Webb contributes
greatly in an effective curriculum for Science. He is an excellent advisor
and activities organizer whom all the students respect.
Lijuan Li was born and raised in Tianjin China. She has a Masters Degree
from the Nanjing Communication College in China. She was engaged as a
teacher for 15 years and completed two years of intense English courses
at Shanghai Marine University. She also obtained teaching certification for
teaching Chinese language in Tianjin China. She has taught Chinese while she
worked in Germany, Korea and the American Joint Venture Company. She
enjoys family activities such as fishing with her husband, traveling,
ice-skating and watching movies. She is proud to be a member of Best
Friends.
Aejin’s finished her bachelor degree in Chung-Ang University in Seoul,
Korea and completed her master degree in Music and Education at Golden
Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. She has experience teaching Korean,
Piano, guitar, voice, and hand drum. During the Christmas Holiday she was in
charge of bringing Christmas to the center by singing carols and using the
drums. She was very successful in bringing the holiday to the children.
Andrew is from the Bay Area and graduated from Cal State University,
East Bay last year in Computer Science and Mathematics. He has three
years experience in tutoring mathematics such as Algebra and Calculus. He
loves various ball games with children and tutoring various subjects. He
enjoys traveling and has been to Japan and China. He appreciates being able
to work at the Best Friends Enrichment Center, demonstrating his own
teaching strategy and working with children. Having good personality, he
treats all students nicely. He is a likable teacher in the center. He enjoys
teaching and would like to make teaching as a career.






Yukari Acree graduated from Osaka Jagakuin Junior College in Japan,
majoring in English. She then completed her B.S. in Sociology at the
University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University, Pueblo).
She attended the Master's program in Sociology at Colorado Sate
University, Fort Collins. She is the Japanese teacher at Best Friends. She
taught English in Japan before coming to the US, and helped with Japanese
classes while attending Colorado State University. Besides teaching, she
also does translation work. She likes to sing, read, and arrange flowers.c


Katherine Clements, Miss Kat, is a senior at San Francisco State
University. Originally from Santa Barbara, she came to the Bay Area to
complete her schooling. She is the eldest of four children and has always
loved taking care of and teaching children. Some of her hobbies include
reading, painting, writing, and cooking, which she incorporates into her
lessons and teaching style at Best Friends. Her goal is to instill in children
a thirst for knowledge, a solid understanding and appreciation of the world
around them, and a sense of who they are and what they can accomplish
within society. Miss Kat loves each of her students at Best Friends and
hopes to empower them to go out into the world and see the product of
their energy and passions.
